Shift4 has made several changes to merchant fees during 2026. SkyTab was rebranded Shift4 Dine in May 2026, the same platform under a new name, with the same pricing structure.
What changed
| Change | Amount | Effective |
|---|---|---|
| Online Ordering Enablement Fee (new) | $34.99 / month | July 1, 2026 |
| Annual Service & Maintenance Fee (new, consolidated) | ~$1,500–$2,000 / year | July 1, 2026, billed each August |
| Month End Billing Fee (increase) | 0.02% → 0.05% of volume | March 2026 |
The Online Ordering Enablement Fee is applied to restaurant merchant accounts and described as covering online ordering and delivery costs.
The Annual Service and Maintenance Fee was announced in June 2026 and replaces two earlier charges: the Regulatory Assurance Fee ($325 per device, capped at $975) and the Annual Program Fee ($250 per device, capped at $1,000). The amount varies by account. For most merchants the consolidated figure lands above the previous maximum. For context on the trajectory, the Annual Program Fee was $99 per device before it rose to $250.
The Month End Billing Fee rose to 0.05% of total sales volume in March 2026, from 0.02%. That fee was itself introduced at two basis points on July 1, 2025. It follows a rate increase of 0.05% plus $0.03 per transaction on March 1, 2025.
Contract context
The Shift4 merchant processing agreement runs 36 months. All card transactions must be processed through Shift4's merchant services (split processing isn't permitted), and exiting early can trigger liquidated damages.
That combination is the part worth noticing. A fee schedule that can change during the term, in a contract that runs three years, on a platform where you can't move your processing without replacing the system.
None of this is unusual in the industry. We track the documented cases across providers in our record of 2026 rate increases.
